Background

The Geological Society is a non-political and non- profit making scientific organisation.  Founded in 1967, the aim of the Society is to promote the advancement of the geological sciences in Malaysia.  Currently, it has more than 500 registered members worldwide.

In keeping with the Society’s objectives to provide a forum for exchange of scientific and technical information and advancement in petroleum exploration and development, preparations are now being made to organise the 25th Petroleum Geology Conference & Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.  This year, the Conference & Exhibition will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel on 17th & 18th December 2003.  The Petroleum Geology Conference & Exhibition is a premier annual event of the Society and has been well attended by the geoscientific community, both local and abroad.

Exploration activities in this region are progressing well.  Commendable results have been achieved, some of which are attributed to the innovative use of the latest advances in exploration technology.  This Conference & Exhibition provides opportunities to share experiences as well as learn how innovative technologies are being applied to ensure discoveries.  Many of the success stories will be told at this Conference & Exhibition.
